Welcome to a new chapter of the CG Tips and Tricks videotutorials.
On the last episode we shared a quick introduction on how to use Masks within After Effects. Based on some feedback I received (thanks @ana.campos.duran for sharing your thoughts), it would be nice to go deeper as Masks are really powerful to get great results.
So, I decided to run a new session focusing on the use of Advanced Masks. As always, the idea is to share some highlights that can be used as inspiration for your own projects. I covered 3 different scenarios:
First scenario will cover a very common situation, that is adding titles and captions to your videos. Obviously, we will add some animation to the text so it is not so boring.
On the second case, I will show how to use masks to simulate transparency when you just have a plain jpg as background, without any alpha channel. You will get a really nice result having text that can be hidden by elements in your picture.
Last we will start animating masks. On this sample the animation will be simple and we will manually reveal a text, frame by frame, using someone's body as a reference. This can be a nice way to show name and role of an speaker in an auditorium when entering it.
I apologize on the length on the chapter. I was trying to run these videos in about 10-15 minutes each, but this one had a lot of content to share and last for about 24 minutes. Sorry for that. In any case I feel it will be interesting for you to watch it :)
Hope you like it.
As always, feel free to add any comment, and, if you want me to continue recording these videos, please subscribe to my blog so that I see it is been used by someone :)
